about

I wrote this song with a short lived best friendship of the times with Travis Rivera. It was his chord progression, and he wrote the hook line for the chorus. "Character is based upon mistake", and the line " you can change anytime". I wrote the ultra chorus/ bridge part I believe if I remember correctly, and all the rest of the lyrics used in this version. Soon after writing the song together He was forced to move away due to misfiled paper work with Penn State University, and I haven't really seen or spoken to him since. Now I love all of my song's as if they are my children, and afraid this fantastic song would fade into nothingness. Wrote my own version based on what little I remembered from playing it with him. I had to fill out most of the lyrics, myself. But made sure to include the few amazing lines he came up with that stuck most in my head anyway, into this final-ish version. I would have loved to have recorded our original version if it was possible. Travis has an amazing voice, which had such character to it. And probably could still sing this song better than I. But I just wanted to make sure this song had a chance at life. Although, unfortunately like many tracks on this album, this Is not the final vision I had in my head for this song. But even though I had very little support or money in which to finish it my way, It turned out very good regardless. And because I didn't give up on this song, it is now allowed to exist at least in cyberspace, for good or bad. I love Jon Spearly's dream like guitar weaving's on this song especially. A few of the lyrics are not what I sing when I play the song live. But over all, even beyond all that honesty I just shared about this song, it's actually one of my favorites off this release. Hope you are well Travis, whoever you are now, where ever you ended up. God bless you and yours old friend.

lyrics

Wreathed in Flame

Life goes reeling by
Like black and white cinematography
Clipped together
From a distant time
All humming and buzzing
By your ears your eyes your mind
Fairing bettered weather from this inconsistent brain
Now quiet,
now blaring again
A torrent torn apart by your hurricane rains
By your stormy flames
dissipate my stuttering psyche
like key unlock and lead
suffering disbelief in our own morbid reality

I've heard character is based upon mistakes
These Things we might have changed
I've learned
who we are
is just the sum of all that makes us
My motives need to change

You can change, anytime
But you can't
Ever stay the same
Lives displace
When gone untraced
Emotions gather
Then splatter to the wind
We begin
To take our sins
Out on ourselves
Before we can come together
Knowing it's a long way to go, before we can cum together
Like a butterfly Dancing it's death
Above open flames
My soul disintegrates

I've know character is based upon mistakes
These Things we might have changed
Things we might have changed.
I've learned
who we are
is just the sum of all that makes us
Still, motives need to change
motives need to change

My motives need to change.
